How to win:

Objective of the game: To gain as many Dream Cards as possible.

The game ends when all Dream Cards in the Dream Pile run out. The player with the most number of Dream Cards wins!

Keep going until all dream cards run out. The player with the most number of dream wins.

How to start the game:

1. Select a Singaporean Personality

Game start: All players pick a Personality Card at random and start with 5 cards from the Action Pile (which has all the Action Cards and Cash Cards shuffled in).

Who starts: The player who went to the bathroom last starts the game. (In the New Normal set, in the true Singaporean fashion, the oldest person at the table starts the game).

2. On each turn

On each turn, each player starts their turn by drawing 2 action cards from the Action Pile and play up to 3 actions.

There are 4 ways to play your Actions:
A. Play an Action Card from your hand. (uses 1 action)
B. Place any amount of Cash Cards into your bank (on the table). (Uses 1 action)
C. Buy the top most Dream Card from the Dream Pile, using Cash Cards from your bank (uses 1 action)
D. Use your Personality’s Special Power (can only be used once per turn). (Uses 1 action)

Action Cards or Cash Cards that have been played (or used) go into the Discard Pile. You can choose not to play an Action on your turn.

Players are allowed a maximum of 8 cards in their hand. Discard excess cards into the Discard Pile (not considered an action). If you have no more cards in hand, you can only continue to take 2 cards at your turn.

3. Buy or gain Dreams

Buy or gain Dreams, or sabo other players by stealing their Dreams or Cash.

4. Play until Dreams run out

Keep going until all Dream Cards run out, the player with the most number of Dreams wins!

Game ends: when there are no more Dream Cards left in the Dream Pile.

Setting up table to play:

How to set up the table to play:
  • Dream pile: Shuffle and place Dream Cards face up. You can only buy the top most Dream Card.
  • Action pile: Shuffle Action Cards and Cash Cards, and place them face down.
  • Discard pile: Space to put cards that are used to be discarded.
  • Each player will have space on the table to have their Personality Card (visible to all), and a Bank (where they will place Cash Cards in their bank that is visible to all).

Tips:

  • Look out for the Dream Cards that match your Personality Card. This Dream counts as 2 Dreams for your Personality.
  • Some Action cards allow players to steal Cash Cards from you (or vice versa). You can only pay someone with Cash Cards from your bank. If you have insufficient Cash Cards in your bank, players can take your Dream Cards away instead.

FAQ:

What happens if 2 or more players have the same number of Dream Cards?

If there is a close win, then:
Option A. If 2 or more players have the most number of Dream Cards, then the player with the highest total value of Dream Cards wins.
Option B. If 2 or more players have the same value of Dream Cards, then the player with the highest value of Cash Cards in their bank wins.

Can I get change?

No – if a player collects 100k but you only have a 200k Cash Card, you won’t receive change. (In the new normal set, it is a No, unless the other players in the game want to give you change).

Can I stop a Stop Card?

Yes – for example, you can counter a “Gahmen Say Cannot” with another “Gahmen Say Cannot”

If I have insufficient Cash Cards in my bank to pay another player, can I pay with Cash in my hand?

No – if you have insufficient Cash in your bank, you have to give up a Dream Card in place of Cash. You cannot use Cash Cards in your hand if it is not in your bank (on the table).

When I steal or gain Cash Cards, where do they go?

The Cash Cards go to your bank (on the table) immediately.

If I steal a Dream/ card from someone, can I choose which Dream/ card to steal?

Yes, you can choose which Dream/ card you want to steal (unless their Dreams are protected using their Special Power).

What if there are no more Action Cards to draw from the Action Pile?

Reshuffle Discard Pile to play as a new pile of Action Cards. Leave the top 10 cards in the Discord Pile. (In the New Normal set, there is no need to leave the top 10 cards in the Discard Pile).

Can I stop someone’s Special Power?

Yes, you can stop it with a Stop Card like “Gahmen Say Cannot”. Each player can only use their Special Power once per turn (whether or not it is successful).

What If I keep more than 8 cards on hand?

Discard excess cards into the Discard Pile. If you are found with more than 8 cards on hand, you lose a turn.

What happens if I have no cards left in my hand?

If you still have Dreams and Cash cards, continue to draw 2 Action Cards on your turn and continue playing your Actions. If you have no cards on hand, no Dreams, and no Cash cards (jialat la), you may draw 5 Action cards from the Action Pile.

What if someone is caught holding more than 8 cards in his/her hand?

The player has to discard the excess cards into the Discard Pile (not considered an action), and lose a turn.

If target player has to pay me Cash, does this go into my hand or bank (on table)?

All stolen/gained Cash from other players goes into the bank and not the hand.

Can you stop someone from buying Dreams using the “Stop” cards?

Yes, you can use cards like "Gahmen Say Cannot" (or in the New Normal, "Circuit Breaker") to stop a player from buying Dreams.

If I steal a Dream from another player, can I choose which Dream to steal?

Yes - if the action permits you to "steal" a Dream, you can choose which Dream to steal. However, if the player "loses" a Dream to you, then the player chooses which Dream to give to you.

If a player uses a card that affects all players (Eg: All players to pay 100K). Can I use the Sabo or Taichi card? If yes, what happens?

Yes.  However, both the Sabo and Taichi of cards only applies the specifc action used on you/the group, hence:

Sabo: The player who used the action card on you/the group has to pay you 100K instead as you have reflected the specific action (paying 100K) back to the player who used the card.

Taichi: You can choose another player to pay the 100K on your behalf (hence they will have to pay 200K) because you have redirected that specific action onto another player.

For cards that state “For a turn” (Eg: Work From Home – Put target player on mute for a turn…), is this my turn or their next turn?

It will be until YOUR next turn, given you are the one who played the Action card.

For Dreams cards that go back to Dream pile, does this go to the top or bottom of the pile?

Bottom of the Pile.

Defence card - Money Changer – Prevent your Dreams from being stolen by paying the player with Cash instead.

Kampung spirit – Link any 2 players (can be played on yourself) with each other for 1 round. All actions played by or against them applies to both players.

For example: If Player A “Tio saman” (and has to pay 200k), Player B has to pay 200k too. If Player B doesn’t have sufficient Cash, he has to pay with his Dream!

But if Player A buys a Dream, Player B doesn’t get a Dream for free.

Got Queue, Just Queue – Reuse target player’s action card immediately. Can be played anytime.

Replay a player’s action immediately, anytime during the game. Yes, this means you can replay “Sang Nila Utama” & “Sir Stamford Raffles” too! But watch out, a “Gahmen Say Cannot” card can affect you! This Action Card can be used during another player’s turn.

Lazy Susan – Force all players to pass their Cash in Bank to the player on their left, until you get the Bank you desire!

For example:

If Player A wants Player B’s Bank, all players’ Banks will rotate in a clockwise direction until Player A gets it. In this case, Player B will end up with Player C’s Bank.
